Your personal, basically unlimited size file storage is in My Workspace. When you click on My Workspace and then on Resources you can upload files, create web documents, and link external sites by pasting in URLs. If you have a large number of files to upload, I recommend using the drag and drop tool instead of uploading them one at a time.
Make sure, when adding resources that you want to share make sure access is set to "This file is publicly viewable." If it is set to "Only members of this site can see this file" no one other than you will be able to view it (just like the picture on your profile). One easy way to handle this is to create two folders by:
- clicking the down arrow by Add and clicking on "Create Folders."
- click "Add another folder"
- name one Private and one Public.
- click "Add details for this item: for the folder named Public.
- select "This folder and its contents are publicly viewable"
- click Create Folders Now
- upload your private files to the Private folder and the files you want to share to the Public folder and permissions will be set automatically.
The following demonstrations will walk you through some of these activities.
- Post a File (note that this example adds a resource to a class site but you do the same thing when adding a resource to My Workspace. When adding a resource to My Workspace that you will be using in a class you have to check the radio button by "Display to non-members (publicly viewable)" or no one else will be able to access it.)
- Using drag and drop for My Workspace
It is strongly recommended that you store all of your work in the Resources section of My Workspace so that you will be able to find it when you reach the Capstone Portfolio course.
